In contemporary society, CBD products have become so widespread that they are most people’s first line of defense when it comes to all manner of physical and mental ailments – supplying the user with anti-inflammatory benefits, pain relief, and ease from anxiety and depression.

Does CBD Oil Get You High?
One of the reasons that CBD oil has had such widespread use throughout the world is that it does not contain THC – the substance found within cannabis that causes psychoactive effects, i.e. getting high.
While trace elements are still found, this is generally low, even in the purest of full spectrum CBD.
Is CBD Oil Legal In New Mexico?
Many US states have legalized all kinds of cannabis products – including THC-heavy products designed for recreational use – however, there are many other states where the laws surrounding cannabis and CBD can be more complicated.
One such state is New Mexico – which despite legalizing CBD (see also: Is CBD Legal In The US?)products, there are still stipulations in place, especially regarding the origin of the products, and the ingredients therein.
What CBD Laws Does New Mexico Have?
In 2014 when the Farm Act was passed, New Mexico was one of the states in favor of legalizing hemp production, and after some difficulties with the Republican politicians within the state, this was eventually made law in 2017.
In New Mexico, non-THC CBD products are allowed, meaning that customers can legally purchase CBD products from registered vendors.
There are also no limitations in place – at present – regarding the amount of CBD that individuals can legally carry, meaning there are no charges in place for possession of such a substance.
Where Can CBD Products Be Bought?
In New Mexico, CBD products can be purchased in most drug stores – including countrywide chains like Walgreens, and independent drug stores, as long as they have the appropriate documentation and permits.
What Marijuana Laws Does New Mexico Have?
As of 2021, marijuana has been declared legal for over-21s in New Mexico, following suit with numerous other states in reducing the legalities surrounding this ever popular substance.
However, there are certain regulations in place to ensure that things do not become out of hand.
What Can You Possess?
In New Mexico, there are very specific possession regulations when it comes to marijuana, or any product containing THC.
These include:
- A maximum of 2 ounces of marijuana
- 16 grams of cannabis extract
- 800 milligrams of edible cannabis
All of these refer to public possession – i.e. how much you can legally carry on your person in a public space – but at present, there are no limitations in place when it comes to home storage and use.
Where Can You Use It?
There are also strict regulations in place when it comes to consumption. This generally means that all consumption must be done at home, or indeed in places that allow smoking.
This means that, if your apartment or complex doesn’t allow smoking inside, then you must comply with these restrictions – only smoking in places where you are alone and it is permitted.
Is Medical Marijuana Available?
Those with specific medical conditions can qualify for medicinal marijuana products – assuming they provide sufficient proof, and are recommended by their physician.
These conditions and illnesses include:
- Cancer
- Multiple sclerosis
- Degenerative illnesses
- Widespread chronic pain
- Parkinson’s disease
- Arthritis and chronic bone diseases
There are also numerous other instances where medical marijuana can be an option for patients, and very much depends on the nature of your complaint, and the direction your physician wishes to take your treatment in.
In many cases, medical marijuana (and CBD products) can have beneficial effects on long term conditions, and can provide aid in many different ways.
The main benefits are pain relief and anti-inflammatory benefits, although it has also been shown to have some benefits on treating anxiety and depression in controlled doses.
What Other Rights Do Patients Have?
There are also other rights that patients have to ensure their continued supply of medicinal marijuana. These include:
- The right to purchase from licensed non-profit producers
- The right to possess any paraphernalia for home use
- Patients are given time to produce documentation before arrests and charges are made
- The right to apply for PPL (personal production license) for personal use
